Have you ever wondered how the wrinkled, fatty blob behind your eyes can produce the rich visual experience of the world that (most of us) enjoy?

My doctoral thesis investigates the way visual information is encoded and communicated between discrete brain areas involved in the early stages of visual processing. 

We need to better understand how information flows through the brain if we are to develop more effective (and safe!) brain-machine interfaces—from robotic limbs to bionic eyes, and more!
